Bacterial Vaginosis or BV is a very common condition with 1 in 3 women likely to experience it at some point. Although not usually considered to be sexually transmitted it can be passed on if you have a female partner, and can often be flare up after sexual intercourse as the bacteria balance of the vagina is disturbed.
Half of women with BV have no symptoms, but any symptoms can include: vaginal discharge (grey and fishy smell).
Better2Know tests for BV with a swab of the vagina (similar to a PAP smear) that looks for bacteria called atopobium and gardnerella which are responsible for most cases of BV if you have symptoms. Results are available in four days from when your sample is received in the laboratory.
