Are you dreaming of escaping overseas? With international travel back on the cards, your dream could become a reality. However, it is important to be aware of the Government’s new traffic light system which may alter your travel plans.
With travelling ground to a halt during the pandemic, it is no wonder that booking a trip away is now at the forefront of many people’s minds.
The good news is that travelling abroad this summer is possible. However, regulations have been introduced to ensure Covid safe travel. The UK Government has introduced a traffic light system to categorise countries based on their Covid-19 risk.
Various factors are considered when determining each country’s level of risk, including:
The Government plans to revise each country’s categorisation every three weeks.
Green: A pre-departure Fit to Fly test is required prior to flying. When returning to the UK, taking a test on or before Day 2 is required. Self-isolation is not necessary unless the Day 2 test result is positive.
Amber: A pre-departure Fit to Fly test is required prior to flying. When returning to the UK, all arrivals must quarantine at home for 10 days, but can choose to shorten their self-isolation period with a Test to Release on Day 5. Testing on Day 2 and Day 8 is required.
Red: A pre-departure Fit to Fly test is required prior to flying. When returning to the UK, all arrivals must quarantine for 10 days in a Government-approved hotel. This should be arranged prior to departure. Testing on Day 2 and Day 8 is also required.
