Product Description

Better2Know 4th Generation HIV test.

Is this HIV test accurate?

This blood test is a very accurate test (99.8% 28 days after any incident you are concerned about, rising to 99.9% after 3 months). The test allows you to test for HIV types I and II and the p24 antigen (an early marker of HIV) from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

How does this HIV test work?

This test needs a small blood sample. After you have bought your test online, we will post your discreet HIV test pack to your home (the postal pack is plain so no one will know what it is). Open the pack, where you will find a form, three finger prick lancets, a small gold topped tube, wipes, sample collection guide, and a return envelope. The sample collection guide gives you instructions on how to collect your sample. It is important that you follow the instructions on the leaflet carefully. You will get an email when your results are ready, but you can log on and check on line whenever you like.

When will my test arrive?

If you order a test before 4pm Monday to Friday, we will post it to you first class post same day. Depending upon where you live, your HIV test should arrive the next working day or the day after.

How long before I get my HIV test result?

The results of your HIV test should be ready within one working day from when your sample arrives at the laboratory.

What happens if my HIV test is positive?

We will call you if your result is positive and arrange for you to have a second test (which is included in the price). If your second test is positive then we can help you decide where you want to be referred to for treatment and any other support you need. This can include talking to an HIV specialist consultant and the Terrence Higgins Trust.

Is testing for HIV through Better2Know confidential?

Yes. Your results and details are 100% confidential and we will not inform your GP or anyone without your permission.

How long should I wait after an encounter before getting an HIV test?

You should wait at least 28 days since any incident you are concerned about before getting an HIV test. If you test before this time, the HIV test may not be as accurate as it can be.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When will you send my kit to me?

If your order is placed before 4pm on a working day, then it will be sent the same day. Otherwise it will be sent on the next working day.

Q: Why do you need my email address?

Your Patient Services Manager, Louise Wright, will email you your login details to access your results, a confirmation your kit has been dispatched and finally when all your results are ready. We do not sell on or email you any other marketing materials, that is why we do not ask you to opt in or out of anything.

Q: Do I need to use my real name?

No, but the postman does need to know where to deliver the kit to. As long as you use a name that will get the kit to you, then we do not need your real name.

Q: What does the kit packaging look like?

It will arrive in plain white envelope with your typed name and address on it.

Q: What if I have any more questions?

You can email Louise by replying to one of the emails she has sent to you. She will do her best to answer them.
