Blemish Screen

Which STIs does the Blemish Screen test for?

The Better2Know Blemish Screen tests for:

  • Syphilis
  • Herpes
  • HPV

How does the screen work?

The Blemish Screen requires two swabs of the affected area to detect infection. Your plainly packaged Home Test kit will contain everything you need to collect your swab sample, including two PCR swabs, a pathology form, sample collection guide and a postage-paid return envelope. It is important that you follow the instructions on the leaflet as carefully as possible in order to safely collect your sample. Once you are done, simply pop your sample into the prepaid envelope and send it over to our certified laboratory for swift and efficient analysis.

Is the Blemish Screen accurate?

This screen has been designed by a panel of sexual health specialists to test for the most common STIs that cause blemishes in the genital region. If you have a lump, wart, blister, rash or other blemish in your genital area, this screen may be the best option for you. The test does not require a period of incubation and is available to anyone that has symptoms similar to those listed above.

The test is highly accurate, and the analysis of your sample will be performed in our accredited UK laboratory.

Is my test confidential?

Yes, 100%. Testing with Better2Know is completely anonymous and we will not inform anyone – including your GP – of your results or personal details without your permission.

When will my test kit arrive?

If you order your Home Test before 4pm on a weekday, we will dispatch your personal kit by first class post on the very same day. Your kit should arrive within two working days.

How will I receive my Blemish Screen results?

The results of your Blemish Screen will be ready within five working days of your sample’s arrival at our central laboratory. Results will be made available online as they are returned to us, and we will call you or send you an email or SMS when they are all ready.

What if my test is reactive?

If it is confirmed that you have a Syphilis or Herpes infection, Better2Know can provide you with a prescription for the treatment you require, though there will be a charge for this. The removal of Genital Warts usually involves cryotherapy, which is a procedure that can be performed by Better2Know’s experienced clinicians. There are also creams that can be prescribed to help remove warts, reduce their symptoms, and prevent their recurrence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When will you send my kit to me?

If your order is placed before 4pm on a working day, then it will be sent the same day. Otherwise it will be sent on the next working day.

Q: Why do you need my email address?

Your Patient Services Manager, Louise Wright, will email you your login details to access your results, a confirmation your kit has been dispatched and finally when all your results are ready. We do not sell on or email you any other marketing materials, that is why we do not ask you to opt in or out of anything.

Q: Do I need to use my real name?

No, but the postman does need to know where to deliver the kit to. As long as you use a name that will get the kit to you, then we do not need your real name.

Q: What does the kit packaging look like?

It will arrive in plain white envelope with your typed name and address on it.

Q: What if I have any more questions?

You can email Louise by replying to one of the emails she has sent to you. She will do her best to answer them.
