If you are arriving in England, Scotland or Northern Ireland from an amber list country and you are fully vaccinated, you are required to take a test on Day 2. Better2Know and our laboratory partners are listed on the Government website as registered private providers for Testing on Day 2.

If you are not fully vaccinated, you are required to take a test on Day 2 and Day 8.

Travel requirements for amber list countries:

If you have been fully vaccinated:

  • Your airline and/or destination may require a pre-departure PCR Fit to Fly Test
  • Upon return, you must complete a PCR test on Day 2 and you are not required to self-isolate

Important Information: The travel regulations for ‘Fully Vaccinated Amber Arrivals’ apply to those who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 with a UK, EU or US vaccine which is recognised by the UK Government. You must have received your second dose at least 14 days before your return. Read more here.

It is your responsibility to check your country of departure on the UK Government's website prior to booking your tests.

You must order your tests before you return to England, Scotland or Northern Ireland. Failure to do so may incur fines and other penalties.

Please note that Testing on Day 2 is available only to those returning to England, Scotland or Northern Ireland. This test is not available to those returning to Wales. It is your responsibility to check your nation's Government guidance.

When you order your tests, we will ask you to provide details about yourself and your journey. You will then receive a unique reference number, which you must enter on your passenger locator form before you return. Please order your tests as early as possible prior to your arrival.


Who is the combined Testing on Day 2 and Fit to Fly option for?

If you are travelling to an amber list country, your airline and/or destination may require you to show proof of a negative Covid-19 test before your flight. By purchasing both these tests together, you will receive a discounted price and save the hassle of ordering your tests separately.

Please note that your tests will be sent separately, as required. If you order your Fit to Fly test before 4pm, Monday to Friday, we will ship it to you on the very same day.

When will I receive my test kits?

Your Day 2 test will be shipped the day before you arrive in England, Scotland or Northern Ireland. Your kit should arrive with you on Day 0 (the day you arrive). If your Day 0 falls on Sunday or Monday, we will post your kit to you on Friday or Saturday, depending on when it is ordered.

If you are concerned that postal delivery is not possible, should you not yet have arrived at the delivery address, please contact us to let us know as soon as possible.

What should I do when I receive my test kit?

Please read and follow the instructions included in your test kit carefully before collecting your sample. You should take your sample using the swab provided and then send it to our laboratory on the same day using the postage-paid return envelope.

As Royal Mail is experiencing severe pressure during the pandemic, you may wish to consider returning your sample using a courier of your choice.

How will I receive my results?

Your results will be available to view online in your secure patient area on our website. We will inform you by email as soon as your results are ready. You can log into your patient area using the unique PIN and password provided to you at the time of booking. Your patient area will also tell you what to do next, depending on your result. You will be able to download a certificate showing proof of your results.

What if I test positive for Covid-19?

If your Day 2 test is positive, it will undergo further testing to identify variants of Covid-19. You must self-isolate for 10 days from the day after your test date, even if you do not have symptoms of Coronavirus. People who you live with or are travelling with should also self-isolate for 10 days.

What if my trip gets cancelled or I change my mind?

We accept cancellations which are made 48 hours or more before your departure flight time. We are unable to process any cancellations after this time due to UK Government requirements. Testing on Day 2 is a legal requirement so you will be required to show your Better2Know Confirmation Number to your airline.

Testing

Q: How should I send my sample to the laboratory?

Inside your test kit, you will find a postage-paid return envelope. Your sample should be sent to the laboratory along with your pathology form in this envelope. Please use a Royal Mail Priority post box. You can find your nearest Priority post box on the Royal Mail website.


Delivery

Q: What does the test kit look like?

Your kit will arrive in a plain grey envelope with your typed name and address.

Q: Does my order include Special Delivery?

Yes, all Covid-19 swab tests are dispatched by tracked, special delivery.

Q: How can I track my sample to the laboratory?

Your return envelope is tracked by Royal Mail. We will send you an email with your tracking number when we dispatch your kit. If you are having problems tracking your parcel, please contact Royal Mail.


Confidentiality

Q: Why do I need to give my email address?

As soon as you have placed your order, we will send you a confirmation email, along with your login details to access your results online. We will send an email when your kit has been dispatched and to let you know when your results are ready.
