Travel requirements for non red list countries:
The testing requirements depend on whether you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. According to Government guidelines, you must have received both doses of an NHS vaccine at least 14 days prior to the date you arrive in England, Scotland or Northern Ireland to not have to quarantine for 10 days on arrival into the UK.
If you have NOT been fully vaccinated:
- Your airline and/or destination may require a pre-departure PCR Fit to Fly Test
- Upon return, you must complete a PCR test on Day 2 and Day 8 and you must self-isolate for 10 days at home
- You are eligible to shorten your 10-day quarantine period with our Test to Release
If you have been fully vaccinated, please visit our Testing on Day 2 for Fully Vaccinated Arrivals page.
Important Information: Better2Know's Testing on Day 2 and Day 8 is suitable only for those who have not been fully vaccinated and are returning to England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland from a non red list country. It is your responsibility to check your country of departure on the UK Government's website prior to booking.
You must order your tests before you return to the United Kingdom. Failure to do so may incur fines and other penalties. You can order your tests as early as is convenient for you, and we will ship them to you in time for your arrival.
When you order your tests, we will ask you to provide details about yourself and your journey. You will then receive a unique reference number, which you must enter on your passenger locator form before you return.
Who is the combined Testing on Day 2 and Day 8 + Test to Release option for?
If you are returning from a non red list country and you are not fully vaccinated, you are required to self-isolate for 10 days upon your return. By purchasing a Test to Release in combination with your Day 2 and Day 8 tests, you can shorten your self-isolation period by taking a PCR test on Day 5.
When will I receive my test kits?
Important Information: Christmas Post Better2Know will dispatch all kits early in the run-up to Christmas. The last posting day for the first class post is Tuesday 21 December. If you are arriving in the UK between 24 and 29 December 2021 please order your kit before 21 December for it to reach you in time. If you have not ordered in time, do not worry, we will still post your kit to you, and issue your Passenger Locator Number, but your kit may not reach you until after the Christmas holiday and you will have to isolate until you get your result. If you are arriving between 1 and 4 January 2022, your kit will be dispatched between 29 and 31 December 2021.
We will dispatch your kits the day before you arrive in England, Scotland or Northern Ireland. You should receive your kits on Day 0, which is the day you arrive. If your Day 0 falls on a Sunday or Monday, we will post your kits to you on Friday or Saturday, depending on when you place your order. Please order your tests as early as possible prior to your arrival.
If you are concerned that postal delivery is not possible, should you not yet have arrived at the delivery address, please contact us to let us know as soon as possible.
What should I do when I receive my test kit?
Please read and follow the instructions included in your test kit carefully. You should then collect your sample using the swab provided and send it to our laboratory on the same day using the postage-paid return envelope.
Royal Mail is experiencing severe pressure during the pandemic so you may wish to consider returning your sample using a courier of your choice.
How will I receive my results?
Your results will be available to view online in your secure patient area on our website. We will send you an email as soon as each result is ready. You can access your patient area using the log-in details provided to you at the time of booking. Your patient area will tell you what to do next, depending on your result. You will also be able to download a certificate showing proof of your results.
What if I test positive for Covid-19?
You must self-isolate for 10 days from the day after your test date, even if you do not have symptoms of Coronavirus. People who you live with or are travelling with should also self-isolate for 10 days.
