What is a Better2Know H. Pylori stomach ulcer test?

An H. Pylori infection is a common cause of stomach ulcers, where the H. Pylori bacteria damages the stomach lining, breaking down the layer that protects the stomach lining from stomach acid causing ulcers. Stomach ulcers are common and can affect people of any age but are most common in men over 60 years old.

Why consider a H. Pylori test to help detect a stomach ulcer?

An H. Pylori test is used to diagnose a Helicobacter pylori bacterial infection, which can cause a number of different digestive disorders, including gastritis and stomach ulcers. • Pain that travels up from your stomach to your back or neck
  • Indigestion
  • Heartburn
  • Loss of appetit
  • Feeling and being sick
  • Weight loss

How does this test work?

H. Pylori bacteria (the cause of an ulcer) is tested using a blood sample. Once the blood sample has been taken, simply follow the instructions provided in the kit and place it back in the prepaid postage envelope included for your sample to be sent to our accredited laboratory for analysis. You will receive your results within two working days.

What tests will you run on my sample?

Your blood sample will be tested for H. Pylori antibodies. The presence of antibodies indicate that your immune system is fighting infection or has fought a previous infection.

When will my test kit arrive?

If ordered before 4pm Monday-Friday, your test kit will be mailed the very same day using first class postage and should arrive the next working day, depending on your location.

How will I receive my test results?
