Heart Health Screen

What is a Heart Health Screen?

Our Heart Health Screen is designed to evaluate your risk of cardiovascular diseases such as heart disease, heart attack or stroke. It includes a panel of tests for high-density lipoproteins (HDL), low-density lipoproteins (LDL), triglycerides and total cholesterol. Lipids and lipoproteins are a group of fats or fat-protein substances that are important cell components, as well as being sources of energy.

Why consider a Heart Health Screen?

You may wish to consider our Heart Health Screen if you are concerned about any of the following:

  • Long-term cardiovascular health
  • High blood pressure
  • Obesity
  • Diabetes
  • A previous heart attack
  • A family history of heart disease or diagnosed heart conditions.

How does this test work?

This test requires a blood sample which you can collect yourself from a simple finger prick and send to our accredited UK laboratory for analysis using the postage-paid envelope provided.

What tests will be run on my sample?

Our Heart Health Screen will measure the following:

  • High-density lipoproteins (HDL)
  • Low-density lipoproteins (LDL)
  • Non-HDL cholesterol
  • Triglycerides
  • Cholesterol

When will my test kit arrive?

If you order Better2Know’s Heart Health Screen before 4 pm, Monday to Friday, your kit will be dispatched on the same day. You should receive your test kit either the next working day or the day after, depending on where you live. You can also choose Special Delivery at checkout for a next working day service.

How will I receive my test results?

You will receive your results within one working day of your sample’s arrival at our accredited laboratory. Your results will be available to view in your secure online patient area. Simply log in with the details we will provide upon confirming your order. As soon as all of your results are ready, a member of our Patient Services team will contact you.

What should I do with my results?

Your results will provide an indication of the level and ratio of important agents within your blood. If your test reveals abnormal results, you could be at risk of heart disease, and you should speak to a doctor. Better2Know can organise a consultation with one of our private doctors across the UK. Your doctor will discuss your results in more detail and will offer advice on treatment options and lifestyle changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When will you send my kit to me?

If your order is placed before 4pm on a working day, then it will be sent the same day. Otherwise it will be sent on the next working day.

Q: Why do you need my email address?

Your Patient Services Manager, Louise Wright, will email you your login details to access your results, a confirmation your kit has been dispatched and finally when all your results are ready. We do not sell on or email you any other marketing materials, that is why we do not ask you to opt in or out of anything.

Q: Do I need to use my real name?

No, but the postman does need to know where to deliver the kit to. As long as you use a name that will get the kit to you, then we do not need your real name.

Q: What does the kit packaging look like?

It will arrive in plain white envelope with your typed name and address on it.

Q: What if I have any more questions?

You can email Louise by replying to one of the emails she has sent to you. She will do her best to answer them.
