Product Description

Better2Know Urine for Microscopy & Culture test.

How does the test work?

Better2Know’s Urine for Microscopy & Culture test will identify the presence of yeast or harmful bacteria in the urine, which may be the cause of a urinary tract infection (UTI). The test can be done at any time when you are concerned. Your discreetly packaged Home Testing kit will include a container for urine collection, a pathology form, and a postage-paid return envelope. We will also send you with a detailed leaflet, offering clear instructions on how to collect your sample. Once you have taken your sample, pop it into the prepaid envelope and send it to our central laboratory for fast and efficient analysis.

How accurate is this test?

To ensure the highest level of accuracy, all the pathology for Better2Know’s Home Testing is performed in our UK-based accredited laboratory. If bacteria or yeast is detected, the total number of organisms is counted, this is known as a colony count. Additional biochemical testing will then identify the organisms.

Is my test confidential?

Yes, with Better2Know your personal details and results remain strictly confidential. You do not have do use your real name, and we will not inform your GP, or any other third parties, of your results or private info without consent.

When will my test kit arrive?

If you order your Home Test before 4pm Monday to Friday, we will send it to you by first class post the very same day.

How will I receive my results?

Results should be ready within two working days of your sample’s arrival at the lab. Once all your results are available, Better2Know will contact you via a method of your preference. This can be a telephone call, email or SMS, it is entirely up to you. In the meantime, you can access these results discreetly via the secure patient login area of our website.

What if I test positive?

Most UTIs can be easily treated with a course of antibiotics and, for a small, additional charge, we can arrange a telephone or face-to-face consultation with one of our many, experienced doctors and will refer you to a specialist service, if necessary. Alternatively, you may wish to take your results to your personal GP.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When will you send my kit to me?

If your order is placed before 4pm on a working day, then it will be sent the same day. Otherwise it will be sent on the next working day.

Q: Why do you need my email address?

Your Patient Services Manager, Louise Wright, will email you your login details to access your results, a confirmation your kit has been dispatched and finally when all your results are ready. We do not sell on or email you any other marketing materials, that is why we do not ask you to opt in or out of anything.

Q: Do I need to use my real name?

No, but the postman does need to know where to deliver the kit to. As long as you use a name that will get the kit to you, then we do not need your real name.

Q: What does the kit packaging look like?

It will arrive in plain white envelope with your typed name and address on it.

Q: What if I have any more questions?

You can email Louise by replying to one of the emails she has sent to you. She will do her best to answer them.
