Product Description

Better2Know's Wellbeing Screen tests for HIV, Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea.

Which STIs does the Wellbeing Screen test for?

The Wellbeing Screen tests for:

  • HIV I/II and the p24 antigen
  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhoea

Is the Wellbeing Screen accurate?

Yes, this is an accurate test that allows you to test for HIV types I and II and the p24 antigen (an early marker of HIV), as well as Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

The Wellbeing Screen includes a blood test for HIV so it is a very accurate test (99.8% 28 days after any incident you are concerned about, rising to 99.9% after 3 months), and a urine test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea. If you are not sure which STI you may have or you are concerned about a risky encounter, we recommend the Full STI Screen which tests for a range of sexually transmitted diseases including Hepatitis B and Syphilis.

How does this test work?

This is a blood and urine test and you collect samples at home with the kit provided. Once you have ordered your test online, we will post a discreet test pack to your home (the postal pack is plain so no one will know what it is). Open the pack and you will find a form, three finger-prick lancets, a small gold topped tube, a urine collection tube, wipes and a return envelope. In addition, we will send you a copy of the sample collection instruction leaflet. The leaflet will give you full instructions on how to collect your sample. It is important that you follow the instructions on the leaflet carefully. You will get an email when your results are ready, but you can also log on and check online whenever you like.

When will my test arrive?

If you order your test before 4pm Monday to Friday, we will post it out to you by first class post the same day. Your test should arrive the next working day or the day after, depending on the postal service in your area.

How long before I get my Wellbeing Screen results?

The results of your Wellbeing Screen should normally be ready within two working days from when your sample arrives at the laboratory.

What happens if my test is positive?

We will call you if your HIV result is positive and arrange for you to have a second test (which is included in the price). If your second test is positive then we can help you decide where you want to be referred to for treatment and any other support you need. This can include talking to an HIV specialist consultant and the Terrence Higgins Trust.

If your Chlamydia and / or Gonorrhoea test is positive we can arrange an appointment with a doctor so that you can discuss the results and get a prescription for the required medication (there will be a small fee for this), or you can take your results to your own GP.

Is testing through Better2Know confidential?

Yes. Your results and details are 100% confidential and we will not inform your GP or anyone else without your permission.

How long should I wait after an encounter before getting a Wellbeing Screen?

You should wait at least 28 days since any incident you are concerned about before getting an HIV test. If you test before this time, the test may not be as accurate as it can be.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When will you send my kit to me?

If your order is placed before 4pm on a working day, then it will be sent the same day. Otherwise it will be sent on the next working day.

Q: Why do you need my email address?

Your Patient Services Manager, Louise Wright, will email you your login details to access your results, a confirmation your kit has been dispatched and finally when all your results are ready. We do not sell on or email you any other marketing materials, that is why we do not ask you to opt in or out of anything.

Q: Do I need to use my real name?

No, but the postman does need to know where to deliver the kit to. As long as you use a name that will get the kit to you, then we do not need your real name.

Q: What does the kit packaging look like?

It will arrive in plain white envelope with your typed name and address on it.

Q: What if I have any more questions?

You can email Louise by replying to one of the emails she has sent to you. She will do her best to answer them.
