What is a Semen Analysis Test?

How does this test work?

This specially designed test is the only semen analysis test currently available for accurate results on a sample collected at home and returned via post. This is due to the nature of semen samples and the precise return times to the lab ensuring sample viability.

This test is designed to be discreet. It will be dispatched quickly using Royal Mail’s Tracked24 service. You can then collect your sample in the comfort of your own home and post it back to our partner laboratory in discreet, unlabelled packaging.

You will then receive your results online within a few days. Our expert clinicians and advice team will be able to talk your results through with you if you would like, or they can organise further testing options.

What is in the test kit?

When your Semen Analysis home collection kit arrives, inside the box you will find:

• 1 collection cup
• A preservative for your sample
• Temperature controlled packaging
• Temperature control indicators
• Postage paid return labels
• 1 zip-lock bag with an absorbent pad
• Instructions

You will find everything that you need to correctly collect your semen sample. It is recommended to abstain from ejaculation for 3-7 days prior to collecting your sample.

Before taking your test, place the preservative in the freezer. The temperature-controlled items are there to protect your sample when it is in transit back to our lab. Due to semen being a live sample, we need to ensure that it remains cold so that we can provide you with accurate results.

When will I get my results?

Your results will be sent to you as soon as they are available.

We do not rush results through to ensure a thorough analysis and report can be provided to you. However, your results are usually ready within a few days of your sample being delivered to our laboratory meaning you will not have to wait long.

All of our results are carefully checked and reported by a team of specialist fertility clinicians. They will provide you with a comprehensive report of all of your results.

What happens when I get my results?

Once you have received your results you will be able to understand your current fertility status. If you have questions or concerns our highly trained team will be on hand 24/7 to answer any question that you may have.
