This Sunday marks the 2018 National STI Testing Day, encouraging people around the country to take control of their sexual health by getting tested. The event takes place on the 14th of January each year, referencing the two-week period of incubation that many STI tests stipulate as a minimum requirement prior to testing.
For instance, after only 14 days of incubation, you can receive highly accurate testing for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, Trichomonas, Gardnerella, Ureaplasma, Mycoplasma and Zika. Better2Know, the UK’s largest provider of private and confidential STI testing services, also offers HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C tests after just 10 days as part of the Early Detection Screen.
STI testing is the only way to be certain of your sexual health status, and at Better2Know we have availability for same or next day appointments at facilities nationwide, as well as our popular Home Testing and Everywhere services. At your confidential appointment, your blood, swab and/or urine samples will be collected by a qualified clinician, before being sent for analysis at our CPA accredited, UK laboratory. Results will be returned between one and five working days from the receipt of your sample by the lab, though this may vary depending on your selected test or screen. You can check the progress of those results by logging into the secure patient area of our website, and we will contact you once all your results are ready. Each infection can be tested for individually or combined with others as part of a more conclusive screen.
For those wishing to receive their results even sooner, Better2Know also conducts Instant testing for up to six harmful infections. Using blood and swab samples, we provide rapid results for HIV, Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. Our Instant testing option is available across the UK, giving you a full picture of your sexual health status in under half an hour.
If your result is positive, do not panic, Better2Know are here to help. We will perform further, confirmatory testing at no additional charge and, depending on your infection, we can give you a prescription for the treatment you require. If you test positive for Chlamydia or Gonorrhoea following an Instant test, an immediate prescription will be provided. We can also arrange telephone or face-to-face doctor’s consultations and will refer you to a specialist service, if necessary.
