HIV 28 Day Test: cost £110

The HIV 28 Day can reliably detect HIV infection that happened more than 28 days before testing. If you are worried about a risky exposure that happened within the last month, you should consider the 10 Day HIV test which is available at our Edinburgh clinics. The 28 Day HIV test combines an antibody test with a test for the p24 antigen. This test is called the 'Duo' because it tests for both HIV 1 & 2 antibodies as well as the 'HIV P24 antigen'. We send a small blood sample to our laboratory and the results are usually available same day or the next day. The HIV DUO test including the p24 antigen is considered 99.8% accurate.

HIV 90 Day Test: cost £110

The traditional HIV test typically offered by the NHS GUM clinics. This test can detect HIV infection that happened more than 90 days before testing and is available at our Edinburgh clinics. However, most of our clinics can provide you an instant result within minutes, while the NHS can take up to 2 weeks! This HIV test is considered 99.9% accurate.

HIV 10 Day Test: cost £200

This is the most sensitive HIV test and can detect HIV 1 infection the happened more than 10 days before testing. Unlike the 90 Day and 28 Day HIV tests which, the 10 day HIV test is not as reliable but can provide you peace of mind faster than any other test. Whatever your result, we advise that you follow up a 10 Day test with an HIV Duo Test 28 days after any potentially risky exposure. All tests are available at our Edinburgh clinics.
