Why should I consider the Cancer Panel test?

The test is recommended for individuals with a family history of cancers. Inherited genetic mutations are the cause of 10–15% of most cancers. Finding out that you have a mutation that increases your risk, enables you and your healthcare provider to develop a personalised plan designed to prevent or detect cancer at an earlier stage.

The results of your cancer panel test may also benefit your relatives. For example, if a man has a mutation in the BRCA1 gene, each of his children has a 50% chance of carrying this mutation.

What is the Better2Know Cancer Panel testing process?

At Better2Know, you'll receive a number of videos describing the testing process, and the implications of the results you may receive.

You will need to provide a saliva sample for the cancer panel test. Once you have collected your sample, you will be required to send it to our laboratory for analysis.

When will my home testing kit arrive?

If you order before 4pm, Monday to Friday, we can send your cancer panel test on the very same day, by sending your test first class.

How will I receive my test results?

You will receive your test results around 4–5 weeks once our lab has received your order receipt. You will be notified via email once your results are available.

What should I do with my results?

If your test shows a positive result, we will be offered post-test counselling with a geneticist.
