Confidential HIV Test Aberdeen

Our Better2Know private clinic in Aberdeen has confidential and anonymous HIV testing.  Our staff are friendly and discreet to help you with your tests as quickly as possible.

Our Aberdeen clinic has three types of HIV test:

  • HIV Rapid Test.  This test will give you your HIV Test results in less than a minute.  It is suitable for exposure that happened at least three months ago.
  • HIV 28 Day DUO Test. Provides very accurate HIV testing results for possible exposures that occurred at least four weeks ago. Results are available the same day your sample is received in the laboratory. The HIV Duo test combines an HIV antibody and HIV antigen test.  This combined test detects any HIV infection sooner than a traditional antibody test.
  • HIV 10 Day PCR RNA Test. This test provides accurate HIV testing results for possible exposures that occurred at least ten days ago. While it is slightly less accurate than HIV DUO testing, it can give peace of mind earlier.  It should be followed up at 28 days with a DUO test. The results for this HIV test take three working days to come back from the laboratory.

HIV Testing in our Clinics

The HIV test only needs a normal blood sample.  This is sent for analysis at our accredited laboratory the same day for testing. Our Laboratory provides very accurate results in a fast timeframe.

Early signs and symptoms of HIV can include:

  • High fever
  • Sore throat
  • Headache
  • Rash
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Diarrhoea and vomiting
  • Abdominal pain

These symptoms are common to many illnesses.  They do not mean you are HIV positive.  The only way to know if you have HIV is by getting a test. Getting tested as early as possible after any potential exposure is important. Early diagnosis followed, by timely appropriate treatment, is the most effective method of keeping HIV under control. Better2Know offer a test for HIV from just ten days after exposure with our Early Detection Screen.
