Chlamydia is England’s most common bacterial STI, accounting for almost half of all STIs diagnosed in 2015. Though Chlamydia is a national issue, there is a significant geographical variation in its distribution, and its prevalence in the North West of England is something of a concern.
According to data produced by the Health Protection Agency in 2010, the North West had the country’s highest rate of new Chlamydia infections in young people – over 2.5% of the region’s 15-24-year-olds were diagnosed with the infection during that time. In over 25s meanwhile, only London had a higher proportion of Chlamydia diagnoses per 100,000 people than the North West.
Part of the problem is the infection’s asymptomatic nature. Around 70% of infected women and 50% of men with Chlamydia will not show any obvious signs of the STI, increasing the importance of regular testing.
As well as the availability of Better2Know’s Home Testing and Everywhere services, we have dozens of private sexual health clinics throughout the North West. Our confidential testing facilities include prominent locations such as: Blackburn, Blackpool, Carlisle, Chester, Chorley, Lancaster, Liverpool, Manchester, Oldham, Preston, St Helens, Wigan and many more.
Chlamydia testing with Better2Know is swift, stress-free and totally anonymous. We can test you for Chlamydia just 14 days after any potential exposure. All our expert clinicians will require is a simple swab or urine sample, without asking you any uncomfortable questions. Your samples will then be sent to our CPA accredited laboratory for fast and accurate analysis. You should receive your results within two working days from the receipt of your sample by the laboratory, depending on the test you select.
Better2Know also offers Instant Chlamydia testing at selected clinics across the North West. This popular testing option requires a swab sample, and provides results within 20 minutes, while you wait in the clinic. Chlamydia testing can be performed individually, or as part of combinations of tests, known as screens.
Chlamydia can be cured with a course of antibiotics but it is important that the infection is detected and treated as early as possible. Should you test positive for Chlamydia, Better2Know will conduct further, confirmatory testing at no additional charge. This excludes reactive Instant Chlamydia results, in the event of which an immediate prescription will be administered. We can also arrange a telephone or face-to-face consultation with one of our many, experienced doctors.
