STI STD and HIV Tests in Leeds
Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) are on the increase, and these infections can put your health at risk. The common infections such as Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea often show no symptoms and if left untreated can permanently damage your reproductive system, and cause problems with fertility. It is not only these infections that you need to be aware of. There are other very common bacterial infections including Mycoplasma, Trichomonas, Ureaplasma and Gardnerella that can all cause problems. These infections can lead to a condition in women known as Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) which can lead to permanent scaring of the fallopian tubes. In men, these infections can lead to pain, swollen testicles and long term damage to fertility.
Other STIs caused by viruses are also on the increase. Herpes, the virus which can cause sores and blisters around the genitals is one of the most common infections and is highly contagious. The Human Papilloma Virus or HPV is also very common and is the leading cause of genital warts and cervical cancer. You can also be tested for the Hepatitis A, B and C viruses, either as part of our screens or with the specific Hepatitis tests that we offer. Better2Know can test you for all these possible infections to help you better manage your sexual health.
At Uplands Road, you will see a doctor for your appointment who will be able to answer any questions you may have when your samples are collected.
