STI STD and HIV Testing in Maidstone

When getting tested for STIs it is usually a good idea to test for several possible infections at the same time. As many STIs do not show any symptoms, it is often impossible to tell if you are infected, much less what you might be infected with. If you have had a risky sexual encounter, then you are a risk of an STI. Our Full Screen will test you for the most common STIs including HIV, Hepatitis B, Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, Ureaplasma and Mycoplasma. All these possible STIs can be tested with just a single blood or urine sample, which will only take a couple of minutes to collect.

If you are or have been suffering from a sore throat, and have recently engaged in oral sex, you might also want to consider having a throat swab to see if you are carrying a Chlamydia or Gonorrhoea infection in your throat. Results of a throat swab will be available only a few days after the appointment at one of our sexual health clinics.

Some people are particularly concerned to know their HIV status and we can help with a variety of tests available. You can have our Early Detection Screen only 10 days after any incident that concerns you or you can choose our 4th generation HIV test that tests for both the HIV antibodies as well as the p24 antigen. The benefit of this test is that it will detect both any recent or longer term HIV infection helping you to get the right treatment quickly.

Other very common STIs are Herpes Simplex, the cause of sores and blisters around the mouth, lips and genitals and also the Human Papilloma Virus or HPV. If you have been infected with HPV, this can lead to Genital Warts which are one of the most common STIs. Certain types of HPV are also the leading cause of cervical cancer. It is very important for both men and women to be tested for this infection. It is very common, highly contagious and can have fatal consequences if not diagnosed and managed properly.
